Spirit of Football e.V.

This seminar is organized together with Spirit of Football e.V. – a non-profit organization that promotes respect and openness through (fair play) football and shared postive cultural education activites in schools and communities. It is a continuation of last semester’s Stufu „Spirit of Mitmenschlichkeit“. Students will plan and carry out integrative projects in Erfurt. The Seminar will start with a block weekend (with over night say) in Erfurt.

After being given an overview of the refugee situation and SoF’s work, students begin to take responsibility for organising activites and events. These activities will be split into three main working areas: 1. Orientation courses for refugees at centres where refugees are being housed (Gemeinschaftsunterkünften) and around Erfurt; 2. Culture evenings in the Verein’s HQ (every Wednesday evening in Wächterhaus 1. Talstr. 16 Erfurt): refugees, students, and local citizens cook and eat together, play cards and board games, watch films and sports matches, enjoy music (also live) and enjoy cultural presentations (especially about Heimat, Flucht & Asyl). 3. Fair Play football and other sports sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with unaccompanied minor refugees (Unbegleitete Minderjährige Flüchtlinge) and Friday evenings with 18+ refugees.
